Gayeshpur Municipality is located in the northern fringe of the Kolkata Metropolitan District and is at about 65 kilometers north of Kolkata. It is accessed by two State highways. The eastern side approach is through National Highway 34, and the western side through Delhi Road. Further, Gayeshpur is linked through suburban railways having two railway stations in its vicinity. Kalyani Railway Station lies at its periphery in the north-west, and Kanchrapara railway station in the west.
Gayeshpur Municipality is bounded in its northwest by Kalyani Municipality and in its south by Mathura Bill. Saguna Gram Panchayat area starts in its northern boundary and its southwestern boundary is delimited partially by the River Hooghly and the rest by the Kanchrapara municipal boundary.
The local climate is hot and humid. The soil is enriched by the sedimentation of the River Hooghly and is very fertile in nature. There is plenty underground reserve of water. However, the municipality has decided to use surface water for supply to the citizens of the municipality.
A pleasant Picnic Garden with an area of 0.15 Sq. Km has been set up within Gayeshpur municipal area. Children and adults alike use this spot for picnic and recreation during winter season.
According to 2001 Census of India Gayeshpur municipality has an area of 30 Sq. Km. and a population of 55048.
